Our Work: Three Pillars, One Mission

My Fairy GodParents supports youth ages 12–24 impacted by parental incarceration and justice-impacted youth, along with the caregivers and families who support them. That includes young people with a currently or formerly incarcerated parent or loved one, and young people with their own justice-system involvement — court involvement, detention, probation, parole, diversion, or reentry.

Every MFGP program — mentorship, workshops, youth coaching, the retreat concept, resource access, and scholarship referrals — is open to justice-impacted youth, whether the system contact is a parent’s, a loved one’s, or their own.

Our work is organized under three connected pillars: Storytelling & Advocacy, Family & Caregiver Support, and Opportunities & Pathways. Together, these pillars help transform lived experience into understanding, practical support, and opportunities to move forward.

Initiative and docuseries in development

For Kids Like Me is MFGP’s storytelling and public-awareness initiative centering the voices and experiences of young people and families affected by parental incarceration, including justice-impacted youth. The initiative includes the #FKLMdoc campaign and a docuseries currently in development. It is designed to build empathy, challenge harmful assumptions, and help justice-impacted young people recognize that they are not alone.
