What is the story of #FKLMdoc?
The story of #FKLMdoc revolves around the lives of teens and young adults impacted by an unjust criminal justice system. It sheds light on their experiences through the eyes of those who feel like prisoners on the outside, even though they are not behind bars — a poignant exploration of the challenges faced by justice-impacted youth and a call to action to address the issues within the U.S. prison system.
The project is presented by MyFairyGodParents.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and is currently in development. It promises to be both enlightening and emotionally powerful, bringing to the forefront stories that often go unheard.
The inspiration behind #FKLMdoc
Inspired by the experiences of Anyé Young, author of “Teen Guide to Living With Incarcerated Parents,” #FKLMdoc shines a light on the challenges faced by children with incarcerated parents. Her book touches hearts and opens eyes, highlighting the resilience and potential of these often-overlooked members of our society.
Anyé Young is a Caribbean-American teen author, model, singer, and aspiring actress. Born in Greensboro, NC, to a Caribbean mother and an American father, she has been an advocate for children with incarcerated parents, serving as a keynote speaker and youth ambassador for the International Coalition for Children with Incarcerated Parents (INCCIP). She has studied at the University of Southern California and the British American Drama Academy.
