At My Fairy GodParents, storytelling is more than content. It is a form of care, education, advocacy, and movement-building.
Every story we share begins with a deeper purpose: to help justice-impacted youth and families feel seen while helping the wider public understand experiences that are too often hidden. Children with incarcerated parents, caregivers, and returning family members often carry stories shaped by love, separation, resilience, stigma, and hope. MFGP exists to honor those stories with dignity.
Behind the scenes, storytelling at MFGP is approached with intention. We do not tell stories for shock value. We do not reduce families to hardship. Instead, we focus on truth, humanity, and transformation. We ask what a story can teach, who it can support, and how it can help shift the way people think about families impacted by incarceration.

This work includes youth-centered narratives, caregiver resources, campaign storytelling, public education materials, digital content, interviews, and future creative productions. Each piece is part of a larger effort to create understanding and build pathways toward support.
Storytelling also helps bridge the gap between lived experience and community response. A well-told story can help a teacher better understand a student's behavior. It can help a caregiver find language for difficult conversations. It can help a donor understand why resources matter. It can help a young person realize they are not alone.
MFGP's storytelling process is rooted in empathy and responsibility. The goal is not simply to publish, but to protect, uplift, and empower. We believe stories should be handled with care, especially when they involve young people and families navigating deeply personal experiences.
As MFGP continues to expand its platform, storytelling will remain central to how we educate, advocate, and build support. Whether through campaigns like For Kids Like Me, future docuseries development, educational resources, or community programming, our stories are designed to spark more than awareness. They are designed to spark action.
