My name is LaDàna Young, and I am not just the Founder and Executive Director of MyFairyGodParents.org—I am a mother, a caregiver, and someone with deeply lived experience navigating the challenges of parental incarceration. For nearly a decade, I raised my daughter, Anyé, while her father, Cedric, was incarcerated due to North Carolina’s mandatory sentencing laws. His nonviolent, non-drug-related offense resulted in a 12-year sentence, of which he served almost 10 years.

Witnessing the impact of incarceration on my daughter and our family fueled my passion for advocacy. Anyé’s remarkable resilience and courage shine through in her book (Teen Guide to Living With Incarcerated Parents), and her story continues to inspire me every day. Cedric’s strength and determination to rebuild after such adversity are equally motivating. Together, our experiences have shaped the heart and mission of MyFairyGodParents.org: to amplify the voices of families and children affected by incarceration and to advocate for systemic change.

We were honored to announce that MyFairyGodParents.org was invited to present at the International Coalition for Children with Incarcerated Parents (INCCIP) Conference 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. This would have been a pivotal opportunity to bring attention to the challenges faced by justice-impacted families and to showcase the innovative ways we are working to transform lives and communities.

As of June 23, 2025, and with a heavy heart, we will no longer be able to attend or present at the INCCIP 2025 Biennial Conference in South Korea. Despite our best efforts and the incredible support we received from this community—and through the Double Good popcorn campaign—the cost of international travel and registration proved beyond reach.

We’re profoundly grateful for your belief in our vision. Every dollar donated was a signal of hope, solidarity, and shared commitment to amplifying the voices of justice-impacted families.

While this opportunity didn’t unfold as planned, we’re not closing the chapter—we’re simply turning the page. All donations received through GoFundMe and Double Good will now be redirected to support MyFairyGodParents.org’s core programming, including advocacy workshops, storytelling platforms, and initiatives designed to uplift and empower impacted youth. Amplifying Voices at INCCIP Conference 2025  

MyFairyGodParents.org is thrilled to announce our participation in the upcoming International Coalition for Children with Incarcerated Parents (INCCIP) Conference 2025, taking place July 1–4 in Seoul, South Korea. This global event provides a platform to share stories, strategies, and solutions for families affected by incarceration.  

Our workshop, titled “Transforming Lives and Communities: A Family’s Journey Through Incarceration and Beyond,” will feature:

• Personal narratives from Anyé Young, Cedric Young, and LaDàna Young.  
• Insights into the emotional, social, and educational impacts of incarceration on families and children.  
• Actionable strategies to build resilience and break cycles of incarceration.  

Why This Matters  

With 1 in 28 children in the United States experiencing parental incarceration, the need for awareness, advocacy, and systemic change is urgent. At MyFairyGodParents.org, we believe in transforming lives through storytelling, community empowerment, and restorative solutions.  

How You Can Help  

To make this opportunity possible, we need to raise $12,000 USD, which will cover:  

1. Airfare: $6,100 for three speakers.  

2. Hotel Accommodations: $1,064 for four nights.  

3. Conference Registration Fees: $999 for mandatory participation (covers 3 speakers).  

4. Food and Daily Expenses: $750 for meals during the event.  

5. Ground Transportation: $600 for local travel.  

6. Professional Videography: $1,500 for documenting the presentation.  

7. Miscellaneous: $987 for unforeseen expenses.
